Shifting Between the Recorded & Lived weaves two family stories through photographs, narration, and sound.
It is a visual journey between two childhoods and two continents - 1970s England and early 2000s India.
Drawing on childhood memories that are felt more than remembered, the work explores how archives, tone, and retelling shape our sense of place, and how revisiting these locations decades later reveals the gap between what was recorded and what is truly lived.
It is both a journey of self discovery and a means of healing through gaining greater knowledge.

One thing is believed
Another contradicted
I hear of the war and family lore
I remember your laugh and photograph
Places close, places forgotten
I live in parallel with your record
I search for it. For how it looks. For how I think I'm supposed to feel
And so do you
But I am left empty handed
Instead, I find myself
That was then, This is now
