In the year of 2013 at the age of 11 I travelled with my mum, 1 year old brother and step dad around Scotland for 4 weeks in our caravan.
The project is a select collection of photographs from this trip (2000 in total), taken on my first Nikon compact camera.
I started using cameras at the age of 10 so we have an insight into my early 'works' where the difference can be seen not just in my interests and angles but also in the lack of camera quality.
I've created 12 typologies showing what seemed to interest young me and my camera over and over again; those selected were a part of many others. I'm interested in the repetitive nature of photography, the developing brain with access to a camera and recreating archives.
'Qualia' refers to the small things that catch our attention whether that's in sight or other senses. I revisit these from a younger perspective but also select those I find pivotal now and recreate my memories of the trip, bridging forgotten moments with my photographs.
I hope to continue this project creating one per year of trips I've been on to see what caught my eye at the time. Such places will include; India, France, Guatemala and more.
